Kaiju Lantern Corps - Red Lantern Destoroyah

"Destoroyah of Earth: you have great rage in your heart. You belong to the Red Lantern Corps." 

Good evening, and welcome to what i call the "Kaiju Lantern Corps" series. A very shortlived series where i pick the kaiju from all the universe who i feel would best fit in which Lantern Corps from DC. And seeing as how there are Nine in total: Rage Red, Orange Greed, Yellow Fear, Green Will, Blue Hope, Star Sapphire Love, Indigo Compassion, Black Death, and White Life, i'm only fortunate i have a surplus of kaiju to pick.

And first up, color chronologically, is The Red Lantern Corps: the bearers of Rage, and Hate. And out of almost all the kaiju in the toho lineup, i felt Destoroyah was best suited for the red lanters on account of his savage fury. Now for those who might think "but why isn't he in the Black Lantern Corps since he's Destoroyah?", i have a simple response: it's TOO OBVIOUS! And Destoroyah never struck me as a be-all end-all bringer of death. If anything, he seemed more like a fighter who mainly uses his own rage as a basis for savage brutality. Just look at the Rulers of Earth series, and tell me that he never acted like a berserker in a fight. One, while not consumed by his rage, still has a fury that can almost be unmatched. In fact, he reminded me of Atrocitus from "Green Lantern: The Animated Series", as he was a far more villainous version of his comic counterpart. And like him, Destoroyah was a vengeful beast who made sure the ones who hurt him somehow paid for it brutally - like Goji Junior, and Mothra. And while he didn't use absolute guile like Atrocitus, Destoroyah still felt to me like a rage-filled demon who was invested in killing anything in his way. But in my stories, he's not an absolute berserker, and is more like Atrocitus of the cartoon. Besides, i have a feeling in my mind that Destoroyah is also unhappy being what he is, and blames both humans, AND Godzilla for making him what he is. Thus would he be an agent of Wrath, Hate, and Righteous Vengeance to all who oppose him.

Also, before i completely forget, here's some bit of info on the Red Lanterns: as it's implied, Red Lanterns are beings of primal rage. Ones who have been victimized by others in some way, and want revenge on all those who did it. But nowadays, they are like Ghost Rider: seeking out the guilty to punish them. And they have the power to do so: the more rage and anger they feel, the stronger they become. And they can draw rage from others around them in order to increase their vicious strength. Not to mention that they fire a napalm-like substance made from the Red Energy. One of the only ways to take them down is to take off their ring, but only if you want to kill them: cause the ring replaces all of the hosts blood, and heart and replaces it with red energy, and the ring serves as the heart. If it's taken off of them, even by the host itself, they WILL die.........unless a Blue Lantern is there to heal them as the ring is removed. But still, i'd just go with staying out of their way, and OFF of their list, if you know what's good for you.

And with the Red Lanterns out of the way, we move on to the next color of the emotional spectrum which is just as bad, if not worse, than Rage: The Orange Lantern Corps, and the Masters of Avarice. Stay tuned, and see you all then.
